Karen Ratto Whooley is a Washington State-based knitwear designer. Her work has been published in various print and online publications including Interweave Crochet, Crochet Magazine and Inside Crochet.
She is the author of 9 books: Easy Knit Projects using the Knook for Kids (2014 – Leisure Arts) Learn to Fair Isle Crochet (2012 – Annie’s), Crochet Rocks Socks (2012 – KRW Knitwear Studio) I Can’t Believe I’m Crocheting Socks (2011 – Leisure Arts). Her other books include: Learn to Delta Lace Crochet (2011 – Annie’s Attic) Fair Isle to Crochet (2010 – Leisure Arts) Shower of Cables (2009 – Leisure Arts), Savvy Single Crochet (2008 – Annie’s Attic) and Top Down Sweaters to Crochet (2008 – Annie’s Attic)
Karen teaches Knit and Crochet Classes worldwide with an emphasis on technique driven classes. She enjoys teaching at guilds around the country and shows such as the Knit and Crochet Show (the official show of TKGA and CGOA), and Stitches events.
In her spare time, Karen enjoys hanging out with her husband of 23 years, David and their teen-aged children. Karen loves NFL Football (you can also find her as @12thManKnitting on Twitter), rocking out to her favorite band, Bon Jovi, and enjoying the Pacific Northwest!
