I have been working hard behind the scenes cleaning up the old files for this CAL. When I pulled out all my original stuff, the last time I taught this class was in 2006! Lots of clean up to do!
I am also hard at work creating new and updated swatches of the project and I will be producing video as well each month!
But I know you all have been waiting the project, so here is the orginal from 2006:
I will also give you the option to make a pillow as well.
So how it will work:
On the first day of January-September I will post here on the blog the stitch instructions for that month. In January you will also have a PDF to download with instructions and basic information and terms for Tunisian.
You will make 2 square in the stitch pattern during the month, following all of the guidelines. (in the PDF Packet)
Every Monday from 6-7PM Pacific / 9-10 PM Eastern I will hold a live chat in my Ravelry Group . We can talk about the CAL, but we can talk about other crochet related stuff too!
We will hold all the discussions between the chats in a thread in the Ravelry Group as well. But comments here in the blog would be fine too!
Yarn – Worsted Weight. The sample above is Red Heart. (That is what my class coordinator at Michael’s asked me to use for the class) But you can use wool, a blend, whatever, as long as it is Worsted Weight.
I used 3 different colors for the squares and a 4th for the edging, gusset and joining. I would recommend that you have at least 2 colors, one for the squares (Stitches) and one for all the edging and joining and such.
You will need need at least740 yards (244 yards per 6 squares if you use 3 colors like I did) plus 700 yards for the edging, joining and gusset.
Hooks
Tunisian Crochet hook, 10″ or 14″ straight works well. Size I (5.5 mm) or size needed to work squares to gauge.
Size I (5.5mm) standard crochet hook
Other Notions:
Scissors
Yarn needle
Locking Stitch markers
Wood Handles. The ones above I believe are 6 or 8 Inch Bamboo Rings.

Keri View December 2, 2011 Is this/does it need to be lined? Karen Ratto-Whooley replied: View December 2, 2011 It doesn’t have to be. It will stretch a little, but it is up to you!

Kacy E View December 2, 2011 I really like this!! One of my goals for 2012 is to learn tunisian crochet, so count me in.

Cynthia View December 5, 2011 I’m doing a simple Afghan/Tunisian crochet project right now. This is my first project. I’ve practiced the stitch on smaller swatches with a regular crochet hook but I purchased one for doing this specialty stitch. I am looking forward to the CAL in January.
